Everyday mechanisms become a whole little world to understand on this Montessori-inspired motor skills board. Children get to open, turn, hook, and lock using a door chain, carabiner, latch, slide bolt, and cylinder lock with a key, among other things.

Gears with mini-labyrinths, a threaded rod with rotating parts, and a small horn provide further variety. The ergonomic shape rests comfortably on the lap, and the handle makes the board easy to carry or hang away.

The beauty of open-ended play is that nothing ever has to be exactly the same twice. The child tries things out, invents, and starts over – creating stories at their own pace.
